Given that the best indicator of financial development is financial depth, the article makes a regression that links this indicator with gross domestic product. The article concludes that financial depth has positively influenced Colombia's economic growth between 1995-2009. El presente artículo realiza una breve síntesis acerca de la literatura que trata sobre la relación entre el sector financiero y el sector real, encontrando que ambos sectores están relacionados y que el crecimiento económico depende del desarrollo del sector financiero.
