The predominance of asymmetric design, long pages, unequivocal corporate identification, majority use of neutral colors, more visual than textual content, dynamic elements and photographs that show basic facets of university life, with special prominence for students and teachers is noted. The conclusions indicate that there is relatively little differentiation between the webs in terms of their basic visual characteristics, and it transmits a majority idea of seriousness and integrity, complemented with features that bring dynamism and modernity.Esta investigación analiza la representación visual que hacen de sí mismas las universidades colombianas en sus sitios web. Se emplea el método de análisis de contenido, con una ficha de codificación de 22 indicadores, clasificados en 5 categorías. Se constata el predomino del diseño asimétrico,páginas largas, inequívoca identificación corporativa, uso mayoritario decolores neutros, más contenido visual que textual, elementos dinámicos y fotografías que muestra facetas básicas de la vida universitaria, con especial protagonismo para alumnos y profesores.
