The construction exercise on a real scale generates a series of considerations that are blurred in the traditional context of the design development of a project workshop: considerations on the material reuse, the relationship with the light and the adjacent landscape; to the ergonomic and climatic comfort and to the structural resistance.El artículo es resultado de la investigación, “Arquitectura contemporánea en Medellín”, desarrollada a partir de 2013 en el ámbito de las pesquisas de la Escuela de Arquitectura de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia, en Medellín, relata la experiencia investigativa y pedagógica del proyecto y de la construcción de pequeños espacios arquitectónicos por parte de los estudiantes del primer año de la Facultad de Arquitectura. A partir de la ideación y de la realización de pequeños lugares públicos, los alumnos empiezan a reflexionar sobre la relación entre arte y tectónica, entre ética y estética, a entender la importancia de utilizar materiales económicos o de segunda mano, y sobre la relación contundente entre espacio y usuarios.
