This article presents in depth the main theoretical construct that supports the conceptual development not only of this project but what has become a research and under the concept of the authors can be considered an area of knowledge that influence directly own design process of design disciplines.Este artículo tiene como objetivo contribuir a fortalecer la cultura material a través del estudio de la configuración formal de objetos desarrollados por pequeños productores. El abordaje metodológico es cualitativo exploratorio con triangulación de los datos obtenidos desde la revisión bibliográfica, las discusiones con pares diseñadores y de otras profesiones, y la contrastación en el ejercicio de aula.
