Child neglect: state of the artAbandono infantil: estado de la cuestiónThis article presents the state of the art on the phenomenon of child neglect, which despite being a great magnitude and importance problem due to its impact on children, it has not been studied as much as other types of abuse. By investigating and checking backgrounds regarding this issue, three trends were found: a social-historical which studies neglect in a historical context and the social and discursive aspects that have been related with it, which also includes the historical, sociological or anthropological studies. A second trend is formed by the investigations that have focused on the phenomenon with an objectivist perspective. These studies have sought to measure the frequency of the variables that influence the etiology of neglect and/or the impacts it generates in children. Finally, a trend that is formed by the works that analyze meanings, concepts or positions towards abandonment, emphasizing on the subject and in his speech, as well as in the Institutions for protection has been found.Este artículo tiene como objetivo presentar el estado de la cuestión acerca del fenómeno del abandono infantil, el cual a pesar de ser un problema de gran magnitud y relevancia por sus impactos en los niños, no ha sido muy estudiado a diferencia de otros tipos de maltrato.
