Facultad de Ciencias Humanas, Sociales y de la Educación, Pereira, 2009Ruta Centro es un documental de carácter expositivo que nace como producto de una investigación de año y medio donde se indaga sobre las repercusiones de la Renovación Urbana del centro de Pereira para quienes habitaban el sector de la antigua Galería. Muestra cuáles fueron las decisiones que la Administración Municipal tomó para que la ciudad tuviera una nueva cara: la del comercio que salta a la vista en lo que hoy se conoce como Ciudad Victoria. La intención de este documental es que los pereiranos conozcan esa parte de la historia de la ciudad que se ha construido en los últimos 10 años, cuyo público objetivo son los estudiantes de 10 y 11 de los colegios de la ciudad, y que así tengan una postura más crítica sobre la planificación y la construcción de ciudad para sus habitantes. En veintiséis minutos Juan, el presentador de Ruta Centro, recorre los sitios que antes fueron importantes para el comercio de perecederos en la ciudad, pero que también fueron escenario de prostitución, drogas y sicariato. Hoy, esos sitios están ‘renovados’, y Juan cuenta cada uno de los momentos coyunturales que llevaron a que esto se hiciera realidad, cuestionando lo que en verdad implicó e implica una renovación, cuando ese deterioro social está latente a sólo una cuadra de la Plaza Cívica Ciudad Victoria. Ruta Centro is an expository documentary that was born as the product of a year and a half research that investigates the repercussions of the Urban Renovation of the center of Pereira for those who inhabited the sector of the old Gallery. It shows what were the decisions that the Municipal Administration took so that the city had a new face: that of commerce that is obvious in what is now known as Ciudad Victoria. The intention of this documentary is for the people of Pereira to know that part of the history of the city that has been built in the last 10 years, whose target audience is the students of 10 and 11 of the city's schools, and thus have a more critical stance on city planning and construction for its inhabitants. In twenty-six minutes Juan, the host of Ruta Centro, goes through the places that were once important for the perishables trade in the city, but which were also the scene of prostitution, drugs and hitmen. Today, those sites are 'renewed', and Juan recounts each of the conjunctural moments that led to this becoming a reality, questioning what a renewal really implied and implies, when that social deterioration is latent just one block from the street.
