What is verified through a review of the literature produced by differents authors and institutions, so compared to later confront the claim through the analysis of similar cases both nationally and internationally. The results allowed to determine that this sector is in a nascent state in Risaralda, and exposed the flaws that prevent the progress made. El objetivo de este colectivo consiste en establecer sí el desarrollo del turismo de salud en el departamento de Risaralda en el periodo 2000-2010, incrementó la oferta de servicios en salud y potencializó el comercio internacional del departamento. Lo que se verifica a través de la revisión de la literatura producida por diferentes autores y entidades de índole local, nacional e internacional, para posteriormente de manera comparada confrontar la afirmación a través del análisis de casos similares tanto a nivel nacional como internacional. Los resultados permitieron determinar que este sector se encuentra en un estado incipiente en Risaralda, y se exponen las falencias que impiden el avance del mismo.
