The reading is approached from the interaction between the child, the adults who accompany the stories and the text, emphasizing that the reading exceeds the decoding to become a phenomenon in which the subject finds answers to the enigmas, emotions and feelings. Therefore, knowing children's approaches to texts provide a glimpse how educators promote and encourage the desire for reading and the possibility of new meaning from this experience.En este artículo se aborda la lectura en la primera infancia, entendida en un sentido amplio en el que se leen signos icónicos y lingüísticos con la intención de construir horizontes de sentido y significados a través de la interpretación y comprensión de los textos. La lectura se aborda desde la interacción entre el niño, los adultos que acompañan las narraciones y el texto, destacando que la lectura supera la decodificación para convertirse en un fenómeno en el cual el sujeto encuentra respuestas a los enigmas, emociones y sentimientos.
