It emphasizes the first steps taken to get to an agreement between the two countries, and categorizing them into two different levels. After the last negotiation round, the agreement was stalled and we show some debatable reasons for the postponement of the approval by the US government. It also, focuses on the Agricultural market, which was and still is considered the most delicate part of the negotiation, and the Colombian point of view of their agriculture in this free trade agreement. Este artículo evalúa el Tratado de Libre Comercio (TLC) entre Colombia y los Estados Unidos (EE.UU.), desde su propuesta original por el Presidente de Colombia el 30 de abril de 2003 hasta su firma definitiva, el 12 de octubre de 2011 en el Congreso de los Estados Unidos. Se enfocan los primeros pasos que se realizaron para llegar al acuerdo, clasificándolo en sus diferentes etapas. También se refieren las razones por las cuales se discutió el aplazamiento por parte del gobierno estadounidense.
