La tragedia ocurrida que envolvió hasta la más pequeña hoja de cada rincón del municipio no fue más que el inicio de una partida de enfrentamientos que todavía no tienen fin. Ninguno esperaba que las montañas que los habían rodeado durante años, y los ríos que han calmado su sed, serían quienes un día les arrebatarían hasta la fe en ellos mismos. Cada hecho ocurrido en Mocoa Putumayo durante y después de la tragedia, refleja la obligada serenidad y calma de seis años de lucha en medio de las rocas, el lodo, los escombros y el olvido. Los mocoanos representan lo que hoy por hoy es el municipio. Son esas 335 víctimas mortales, los 398 heridos, los 57 desaparecidos, y los 22.322 damnificados. Pero sobre todo representan, la resiliencia que se levanta cada madrugada empuñando una pala, doblando cualquier plástico, recolectando cada cartón o derribando los escombros de alguna vivienda que ni la fuerza de la naturaleza pudo con ellas. Son la restauración, la esperanza, y la memoria de las huellas que dejaron quienes esa noche del 31 de marzo y la madrugada del 01 de abril, se fueron con la llegada de la madrugada y la calma de los ríos. Ninguno eligió lo que tuvo que vivir, por eso ahora han elegido cómo vivir lo que la vida ya les ha venido dando. Mucho de los habitantes no quieren abandonar el suelo que ahora pisan porque han entendido que con el tiempo la tierra les está devolviendo poco a poco lo que un día les quitó. Adaptarse, continuar y agradecer es lo que ahora mejor saben hacer, independientemente de que dentro de su territorio no existan los avances o progresos que mucho esperan. The tragedy that occurred, which enveloped even the smallest leaf in every corner of the municipality, was only the beginning of a series of confrontations that still have no end. None of them expected that the mountains that had surrounded them for years, and the rivers that had quenched their thirst, would one day take away even their faith in themselves. Every event that occurred in Mocoa Putumayo during and after the tragedy, reflects the forced serenity and calm of six years of struggle amidst the rocks, the mud, the rubble and the oblivion. Mocoanos represent what the municipality is today. They are the 335 fatalities, the 398 injured, the 57 missing, and the 22,322 victims. But above all, they represent the resilience that rises every morning wielding a shovel, folding any plastic, collecting every piece of cardboard or demolishing the debris of a house that not even the force of nature was able to destroy. They are the restoration, the hope, and the memory of the traces left by those who left that night of March 31st and the dawn of April 1st, with the arrival of the dawn and the calm of the rivers. None of them chose what they had to live, so now they have chosen how to live what life has already given them.
