The article highlights notions of temporal architecture developed by several authors, such as tactic and strategy, regarding the case of Chipre in Manizales and contrasts this case with the current urban regulation applicable in Manizales. The article also illustrates the ongoing process carried out in Manizales to cope with informal merchants, which provides key elements to analyze the notions of tactic and strategy and to identify how these merchants operate in public spaces.Este artículo constituye una reflexión crítica a partir de los resultados de investigación llevados a cabo como tesis para optar al título de magíster en arquitectura de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. La idea general del proyecto de investigación se basó en catalogar las producciones espontáneas de los vendedores informales en la calle como arquitectura temporal, así como identificar las formas de apropiación del espacio público, sus diferencias y tensiones. De esta manera la investigación apuntó a reconocer y rescatar conceptos de arquitectura temporal, táctica, estrategia, entre otros; trabajados por diferentes autores, contrastándolos con el caso de Chipre en la ciudad de Manizales y el Plan Indicativo de Espacio Público implementado en dicha zona de la ciudad, con el fin de reafirmar ciertas teorías y poner en juego conceptos a través de la práctica y la prueba en terreno.
