En el mundo moderno se promueve un ideal estético corporal de delgadez imposible de alcanzar, el cual genera una insatisfacción con la imagen corporal que propicia conductas problemáticas. Este es un estudio cuantitativo descriptivo no experimental que busca identificar las creencias y emociones frente a la alimentación y el peso en un grupo de jóvenes universitarios, medido a través del Cuestionario de Creencias y Emociones frente a la Alimentación y el Peso (CECAP), el Índice de Masa Corporal (IMC) y datos sociodemográficos. Los resultados indican que los estudiantes presentan niveles medio bajos de creencias erróneas, medios en importancia otorgada al peso corporal y altos en experimentación de emociones agradables al comer, con IMC mayoritariamente normales. Se concluye que los jóvenes de la muestra presentan resultados positivos en relación a sus creencias, emociones e importancia otorgada al peso frente a la alimentación. Abstract: In the modern world, an aesthetic body ideal of thinness that is impossible to achieve is promoted, which generates dissatisfaction with the body image that encourages problematic behaviors. This is a non-experimental descriptive quantitative study that seeks to identify the beliefs and emotions regarding food and weight in a group of young university students, measured through the Questionnaire of Beliefs and Emotions regarding Food and Weight (CECAP), the Body Mass Index (BMI) and sociodemographic data. The results indicate that students present medium low levels of erroneous beliefs, medium levels of importance given to body weight and high levels of experiencing pleasant emotions when eating, with mostly normal BMI. It is concluded that the young people in the sample present positive results in relation to their beliefs, emotions and importance given to weight compared to food.Universidad Católica de Pereira.
