Summary:Clorpirifós (CP) is a widely used pesticide that relates to various health damage and has gained importance, given its ubiquity in all environmental matrices coupled with the need for timely monitoring to assess the status and rates of discharge to the environment. Environmental factors, on the other hand, promote CP degradation and dissipation in the environment but, it hinders their environmental traceability and actual detection in the various environmental matrices. The use of biosensors provides promising analytical techniques for the detection of various environmentally important compounds such as CP today, but it is unknown whether natural CP degradation would affect the correct recognition of CP by biosensors, influencing their use as a CP discharge traceability tool to the environment. The main objective of this review is to address recent biosensor advances for CP detection.        Keywords— Degradation, Biological Recognition Elements, Metabolites, Environmental Monitoring, Traceability, Aptamer.
