Summary: | This review paper makes part of the applied research project “Design and implementation of a SCADA system to control the water resources and associated environmental parameters through PLC in greenhouses” ascribed to the research group GICEMET in the National Learning Service-SENA-. This study aims at identifying the applications of the agricultural automation to include models of supervision, control and information acquisition in the water resources and environmental parameters management for crops cultivated in greenhouses. A comprehensive search was carried out in national and international indexed journals, webpages and databases. The information was categorized based on several differentiated criteria: supervision under greenhouses, automatic control of water resources and environmental parameters, information acquisition for irrigation under greenhouses, and technological tendencies of the automation in the field. This review allowed to conclude about the advantages of the implementation of this kind of automation compared to conventional agricultural systems, as well as, poses the necessity to apply it in the agricultural sector as a contribution to reduce the impact of the workforce migration from the rural areas to the urban areas. |
