La actividad laboral y las condiciones de la misma pueden ser fuente de malestar y frustración o de bienestar y satisfacción, generando implicaciones en la salud física y mental del trabajador. Dicha investigación tiene como objetivo describir la posible relación entre estrés laboral y engagement en los operarios del área de producción de una empresa de manufactura. Este estudio tiene un enfoque cuantitativo, un diseño no experimental, transversal, correlacional; la muestra fue de 238 operarios. Se utilizó la versión del cuestionario para la Evaluación del Estrés y la Encuesta de Bienestar y Trabajo Los resultados indicaron que el perfil del estrés se encuentra en una dirección contraria al comportamiento de las variables de engagement. Los hallazgos confirman la hipótesis de trabajo, la cual consiste en que a mayores niveles de estrés, menores niveles de engagement. Se recomienda para futuras investigaciones, obtener una muestra homogénea de hombres y mujeres; ya que en el presente estudio la población con la cual se trabajó, en su mayoría fueron mujeres, también realizar estudios longitudinales y diseños experimentales. Abstract: Work-related stress is considered as a result of exposure to psychosocial risks, so the study of it is a way of finding oriented quality of life and health of people improvements. On the contrary, the engagement is taken as a positive mental state which is work-related. Thus, work and its conditions are a source of comfort and satisfaction, which can become in principle of discomfort and frustration, generating negative implications for physical and mental health of the worker. This research aims to describe the possible relationship between job stress and engagement operators in the area of production of a manufacturing company. This study has a quantitative approach, which allows data collection, numerical measurement and statistical analysis; having a non-experimental design, sample taken was 238 workers. the version of the questionnaire for the Assessment of Stress and the Survey of Welfare and Labour (Utrecht Work Engagement Scale [UWES - 9] was used. The results indicated that the profile of stress is in a direction opposite to the behavior of the variables of engagement . these findings confirm the working hypothesis, which is that a higher stress levels lower levels of engagement. on the other hand the other weights of correlation are significant among the factors of work stress and the dimensions of engagement. it is recommended for future investigations, obtain a homogeneous sample of men and women, also longitudinal studies, and experimental designs.Universidad Católica de Pereira.
