In a complementary way the empiric accumulated evidence is explored, giving special attention to the Colombian case and some results of new exercises for the national and regional contours are given.En este trabajo se hace una revisión de la teoría sobre la relación entre comercio exterior de productos manufacturados y crecimiento económico, para lo cual se enfatiza en la perspectiva predominante de la literatura reciente que sugiere que el crecimiento de las exportaciones manufactureras genera rendimientos crecientes en los sectores relacionados, según la llamada «Ley de Verdoorn», y externalidades en los sectores no exportables.
