The implementation of classroom strategies for the use of technological tools by children with cognitive impairments, particularly, became a challenge whose significant contribution are revealed through a didactic instrument. Such process required the study of educational theories. The development of the technological tool, its applicability and the evaluation of its results were carried out in a classroom with special educational needs students, at the school “Jesus Maria Ormaza” in Pereira, Colombia.Dada la diferencia individual en los procesos de enseñanza y aprendizaje, especialmente las que se presentan en niños y jóvenes con necesidades educativas especiales, en relación con la adquisición de competencias lógico-matemáticas básicas, se requiere hacer aportes de carácter teórico-práctico para el ejercicio pedagógico en la relación de enseñabilidad de las ciencias matemáticas. La implementación en el aula de estrategias para el uso de herramientas tecnológicas constituyó un reto que permite presentar un aporte significativo a través de un instrumento didáctico. El proceso requirió el estudio de teorías sobre educación, así como la elaboración, aplicación y evaluación de los resultados de la herramienta tecnológica.
