Facultad de Ciencias Humanas, Sociales y de la Educación, Pereira, 2020En la actualidad la protección del medioambiente encabeza las listas de los deberes primordiales de la sociedad, promulgados por las instituciones gubernamentales y acentuados en la mente de los ciudadanos. Colombia no es la excepción, a pesar de sus graves fallas de preservación y concientización, tiene grandes áreas de reserva que deben ser protegidas, no solo desde lo público, sino también por quienes dependen más directamente de las mismas, los habitantes a sus alrededores. Es este el caso de los residentes continentales, nativos y raizales de la Isla de San Andrés, capital del Departamento Archipiélago declarado desde el 2000 como Reserva de Biósfera Seaflower. En esta investigación periodística a profundidad se agrupa su accionar en cuatro categorías (sensibilización y concientización, recolección de residuos, cambio en prácticas convencionales y aprovechamiento y transformación de residuos) que congregan las prácticas medioambientales que los habitantes de la Isla ejercen, para preservar el estado de la Reserva y promover su desarrollo sostenible.Environmental protection is now at the top of the lists of primary duties of society, promulgated by government institutions and accentuated in the minds of citizens. Colombia is no exception, despite its serious shortcomings in preservation and awareness-raising, has large reserve areas that must be protected not only from the public, but also by those who depend most directly on them, the inhabitants around the reserve. This is the case of continental, native and raizal residents of San Andres Island, capital of the Archipelago Department declared since 2000 as a Biosphere Reserve named Seaflower. In this in-depth journalistic research, its activities are grouped into four categories (awareness-raising, waste collection, change in conventional practices and waste exploitation and transformation) that revolve around the environmental practices exercised by the islanders, in order to preserve the status of the reserve and promote its sustainable development.Universidad Católica de Pereira.
