Facultad de Ciencias Humanas, Sociales y de la Educación, Pereira, 2010En el transcurso de los últimos años se han desarrollado diferentes estrategias de intervención para la persona diagnosticada con Trastorno Afectivo Bipolar tipo I y sus familias, mostrando que si bien el tratamiento farmacológico es necesario, hay otros tipos de intervención como el modelo Psicoeducativo, que permiten potencializar el tratamiento y por ende mejorar la calidad de vida tanto para el paciente como para su familia. En este documento se indagó acerca de las características de la intervención psicoeducativa en familias de personas con TAB tipo I y su relación con el retraso en la rehospitalizaciòn; para esto, se realizó una revisión teórica de diferentes estudios desarrollados en varios países y con pacientes diagnosticados con TAB y enfermedades mentales graves. /Abstract: During recent years have developed different strategies of intervention for the person diagnosed with type I bipolar affective disorder and their families, showing that while drug treatment is necessary, other types of intervention such as psychoeducational model, allowing potentiate the treatment and thus improve the quality of life for the patient and his family.
