Facultad de Arquitectura y Diseño, Pereira, 2009El presente documento da a conocer el proyecto denominado “Sistema para facilitar la lectura y escritura a niños con baja visión” que tuvo como objetivo mejorar la higiene postural, la dinámica y la usabilidad en las actividades de estudio. Para la cual se hicieron una serie de estudios de caso, en los cuales se encontraron necesidades que no habían sido solucionadas de la mejor forma para el caso particular de niños con baja visión, los cuales requieren de un sinnúmero de ayudas externas que mejoren su desempeño mientras están en el ambiente académico ya que los elementos con los que cuentan actualmente no tienen las características adecuadas para mejor su calidad de vida . En este proyecto se encuentra todo el análisis obtenido a través de la observación participante con los usuarios, permitiendo con ello captar las características físicas, motrices y sensitivas de los niños con baja visión, y al mismo tiempo entender detalladamente las actividades que realizarán los estudiantes durante el desarrollo de sus tareas escolares. Uno de los puntos fundamentales fueron los datos estadísticos y técnicos sobre la discapacidad en general y sobre la ceguera y baja visión en particular, para poder tener bases para desarrollar el proceso de diseño en el cual confluye toda la parte de investigación, convirtiéndose en una herramienta guía para empezar a proponer diferentes alternativas encaminadas a mejorar la calidad de vida de los usuarios directos. Obteniendo al final una propuesta de diseño enmarcada dentro de diferentes requerimientos que condicionan y dotan de características tangibles y medibles mediante las cuales se busca reorganizar todo un espacio de trabajo para los niños con baja visión, convirtiendo una actividad que en ocasiones lograba avergonzarlos en una nueva experiencia que les permita sentirse orgullosos mientras realizan sus labores académicas; mostrando al final el desarrollo de la propuesta que dará solución a una parte importante de las necesidades de los niños con baja visión del Colegio Pablo Emilio Cardona quienes sirvieron de muestra para realizar los estudios de sus necesidades y simulaciones preliminares a la selección del diseño final. / Abstract: This document introduces the research project known as “System to facilitate students with low vision in their reading and writing process”. This project had the objective of improving the hygienic position of the low vision students through an element that will facilitate students’ performance while studying. To achieve these objectives some case studies were done, finding that some necessities were not solved appropriately for these students which are low of visions, who need a lot of assistance to improve their academic development; due to that the elements that they have in the present are not suitable to recover their quality of life style. In this project, it will be found all the analysis done through participant observation, giving a wider vision of sightless students’ physical, motor skills and sensitive characteristics. On the other hand, it will address in detail the activities the students do during their academic development. One of the key points were the statistical and technical data about the general disability and about blindness and low vision in particular, in order to have foundations for developing the design process, in which all the research segments assemble, becoming a guide tool to start proposing various options for improving the quality of life of the direct participants.
