Thereby, there was a trend in the labor market: the areas that the recently graduated designers are doing, do not correlate with their appropriate knowledge at the University. In other words, they are required knowledge beyond design, demanding administrative and management knowledge, and intervention and resolution of problems in various areas.El presente artículo sintetiza los resultados del proyecto de investigación enmarcado dentro de una preocupación del Seminario de Sociología del Diseño de la Universidad Icesi, respecto al oficio de los diseñadores recién egresados de los programas académicos que ofrece dicha institución. De ese modo, se observó una tendencia en el mercado laboral: las áreas en las que los diseñadores recién egresados se están desempeñando, no están en correlación con sus conocimientos apropiados en la Universidad.
