description El objetivo principal del proyecto escalafón docente de la Universidad Católica de Pereira está centrado en la creación de un aplicativo software de calidad titulado EscalafonDocenteUCP, desarrollo en el cual se implemente un modelo propio para el desarrollo y la gestión de proyectos de software en Colombia propuesto por el Grupo de Investigación en Innovación e Ingeniería de la Universidad Católica de Pereira (GIII-UCP), antes grupo de investigación TICS (Tecnologías de Información y Comunicación para la Sociedad), de tal manera que se contribuya a la validación del modelo. Por tal motivo, se planteó el desarrollarlo de la solución en las fases que inicialmente propone el modelo, abordando de manera estructurada cada componente y/o característica de desarrollo en las etapas de requerimientos, arquitectura y desarrollo de software. Es importante mencionar, que el software EscalafonDocenteUCP está regido por el reglamento de escalonamiento de la Universidad vigente desde el año 2007, el cual fue aplicado tratando de dar un enfoque práctico e innovador a la solución propuesta, con el fin de automatizar los procesos que componen el registro, actualización y promoción de la información de los docentes haciéndolos más amigables al usuario.
