Description
Summary:This research addressed the problem of anxiety in women victims of domestic violence, based on the recognition that these women experience significant alterations in their mental well-being, marked by symptoms such as isolation, deviance, and difficulty maintaining personal and work relationships. The overall objective was to analyze the psychological effects related to anxiety in women victims of domestic violence in the municipality of San Andrés de Sotavento, based on their experiences and subjective constructions. A qualitative methodology was adopted, with a phenomenological approach focused on the collection of testimonies through semi-structured interviews with a sample composed of adult women with a proven history of domestic violence. This showed that anxiety manifests itself physically and cognitively, affecting daily functioning, generating isolation as a protective mechanism, and creating a constant sense of threat. Therefore, participants linked their discomfort with experiences of control, humiliation, and emotional dependence. It is concluded that anxiety in this context cannot be addressed solely with clinical criteria but also requires a comprehensive understanding of all these aspects. Therefore, it is recommended to strengthen psychosocial care mechanisms with a gender perspective, include objective narratives in psychological evaluations, and design intervention strategies that recognize the complexity of victims' emotional experiences.
