| Summary: | Objective: This study is focused on identifying the level of human development in the students who are doing their professional practice at the Corporación Universitaria del Caribe - CECAR during the first period 2023. Theoretical reference: The research is based on Ruiz's theory of human development and Sen's theory of capabilities. Method: A positivist paradigm with a descriptive quantitative approach is adopted, with a transversal non-experimental design. Data collection was carried out by means of a Human Development Scale. Results and Conclusion: The students in the professional practice of the different academic faculties present significant differences in the levels of human development. Economic - Administrative Sciences and Humanities - Education show a predominance in the medium level, while Basic Sciences, Engineering and Architecture show a higher percentage in the low level. Taking into account that most of the students in professional practice have a medium level of human development, the need to implement programs that promote human development in higher education students is highlighted, emphasizing the relevance of this aspect in their academic and professional training. Implications of the research: this study provides information that allows making decisions in the training processes in higher education. It covers educational, social and personal areas of the students for their future labor insertion. Originality/value: the contribution to the literature focuses on the application of the descriptive quantitative approach to analyze human development during professional practices in higher education. |
