description En los últimos años se ha evidenciado que la transformación digital no es una opción para las empresas, sino una necesidad que asegura su permanencia en un mercado veloz y lleno de cambios constantes. El objetivo de este artículo de reflexión es, por tanto, analizar cómo la transformación digital constituye un proceso vital para las organizaciones, así como identificar cuáles son los factores diferenciales que definen su competitividad y aseguran su éxito. A partir de una revisión sistemática y una síntesis interpretativa de la literatura, se aborda, en primer lugar, la definición y recalibración de la estrategia competitiva, donde la innovación, la agilidad y la centralidad del cliente se configuran como las capacidades dinámicas para sostener la relevancia. Posteriormente, se evidencia que no hay éxito en la transición e implementación sin considerar el capital humano; factor que se examina desde la dimensión organizacional, identificando el liderazgo, la cultura y la gestión del talento como el verdadero núcleo del cambio. También se presentan casos de éxito de empresas que adoptaron la transformación digital y definieron su ventaja competitiva en el mercado. Ahora, dado que este despliegue trae consigo retos y riesgos inevitables, el análisis culmina con una evaluación de las amenazas inherentes —desde la ciberseguridad hasta la brecha digital y la soberanía tecnológica— que actúan como contrapesos críticos a las oportunidades ofrecidas por la transformación digital. Finalmente, se concluye que el éxito último de la transformación no reside en la sofisticación de la herramienta, sino en la capacidad estratégica para gestionar las complejidades humanas y culturales que ésta desata.

El objetivo de este artículo de reflexión es, por tanto, analizar cómo la transformación digital constituye un proceso vital para las organizaciones, así como identificar cuáles son los factores diferenciales que definen su competitividad y aseguran su éxito. A partir de una revisión sistemática y una síntesis interpretativa de la literatura, se aborda, en primer lugar, la definición y recalibración de la estrategia competitiva, donde la innovación, la agilidad y la centralidad del cliente se configuran como las capacidades dinámicas para sostener la relevancia. Posteriormente, se evidencia que no hay éxito en la transición e implementación sin considerar el capital humano; factor que se examina desde la dimensión organizacional, identificando el liderazgo, la cultura y la gestión del talento como el verdadero núcleo del cambio. También se presentan casos de éxito de empresas que adoptaron la transformación digital y definieron su ventaja competitiva en el mercado. Ahora, dado que este despliegue trae consigo retos y riesgos inevitables, el análisis culmina con una evaluación de las amenazas inherentes —desde la ciberseguridad hasta la brecha digital y la soberanía tecnológica— que actúan como contrapesos críticos a las oportunidades ofrecidas por la transformación digital. Finalmente, se concluye que el éxito último de la transformación no reside en la sofisticación de la herramienta, sino en la capacidad estratégica para gestionar las complejidades humanas y culturales que ésta desata.Universidad Libre - Facultad de Ingeniería - Ingeniería en Tecnologías de la Información y las ComunicacionesIn recent years, it has become evident that digital transformation is not an option for companies, but a necessity that ensures their survival in a fast-paced and constantly changing market. The objective of this reflection paper is, therefore, to analyze how digital transformation constitutes a vital process for organizations, as well as to identify the differentiating factors that define their competitiveness and ensure their success. Based on a systematic review and an interpretive synthesis of the literature, the paper first addresses the definition and recalibration of competitive strategy, where innovation, agility, and customer-centricity are configured as the dynamic capabilities for sustaining relevance. Subsequently, it is shown that success in the transition and implementation is not possible without considering human capital; a factor that is examined from an organizational dimension, identifying leadership, culture, and talent management as the true core of change. Given that this deployment brings with it inevitable challenges and risks, the analysis culminates with an evaluation of the inherent threats—from cybersecurity to the digital divide and technological sovereignty—which act as critical counterweights to the opportunities.
