La colecistitis aguda es la complicación más frecuente secundaria a la enfermedad por cálculos biliares, siendo una de las causas de presentación de dolor abdominal en los servicios de urgencias a nivel mundial, presentando hoy en día un aumento en su incidencia y prevalencia. epidemiológicamente se desarrolla cuadros de colecistitis aguda en el 6 – 11% de los pacientes con enfermedad por litiasis vesicular sintomática. Llevando esto a realizar más de 1.000.000 de colecistectomías al año en los estados unidos. La colecistitis aguda tiene diferentes formas de presentación clínica dependiendo del tiempo de evolución, existiendo actualmente diferentes escalas y clasificaciones para lograr un diagnóstico más precoz y oportuno para prestar un mejor manejo de dicha patología. Sin embargo, en nuestros países muchas veces la automedicación, la consulta tardía con un especialista en el área y presentaciones atípicas del dolor secundario a inflamación de la vesícula biliar y factores propios del paciente, es muy frecuente y usual el diagnostico en fases avanzadas y complicaciones ya establecidas de la enfermedad. Siendo más complejo su manejo definitivo. Conllevando a un aumento en el gasto público. |
