description	Introducción: El envejecimiento poblacional es una realidad creciente a nivel mundial, se estima que para el año 2050, la proporción de personas mayores de 60 años se duplicará respecto a 2015. Este fenómeno se verá marcado en regiones como Suramérica y países como Colombia, generando un reto para los sistemas públicos y de salud. En este escenario, la aparición de la doble y triple carga de malnutrición (desnutrición, sobrepeso/obesidad e inseguridad alimentaria) se vuelve un gran desafío para el adulto mayor. Objetivos: Identificar los componentes de la doble y triple carga de malnutrición al igual que sus factores de riesgo con el fin de ofrecer una base sólida, que facilite el desarrollo de estrategias preventivas en salud pública. Resultados: Se seleccionaron 35 registros que cumplían con los criterios de inclusión. El 31.43% se centró en inseguridad alimentaria, el 40% en desnutrición y deficiencias de micronutrientes y el 28.57% en sobrepeso y obesidad sarcopenica. Los registros incluyeron revisiones sistemáticas, estudios transversales, de cohorte, metaanálisis y un artículo etnográfico. Se analizó un total de 192.033 adultos mayores, evidenciándose una mayor manifestación en los factores de riesgo para desnutrición e inseguridad alimentaria, reflejándose mayor prevalencia de malnutrición en los adultos mayores de 85 años siendo la mayoría mujeres. Conclusiones: Para abordar la doble y triple carga de malnutrición, se requiere de la formulación de políticas públicas al igual que oportunas intervenciones en salud enfocadas en mitigar el impacto de este fenómeno y así garantizar una vejez digna, activa, independiente y con autonomía.

This phenomenon will be marked in regions such as South America and countries such as Colombia, generating a challenge for health and social assistance systems. In this scenario, the appearance of the double and triple burden of malnutrition (malnutrition, overweight/obesity and food insecurity) becomes a great challenge for the older adult. Objectives: Identify the components of the double and triple burden of malnutrition as well as their risk factors to offer a solid basis, which facilitates the development of preventive strategies in public health. Results: Thirty-five records that met the inclusion criteria were selected. 31.33% focused on food insecurity, 40% on malnutrition and micronutrient deficiency, 28.57% on overweight and sarcopenic obesity. The records included systematic reviews, cross-sectional, cohort studies, meta-analyses and an ethnographic article. A total of 192,033 elderly adults were analyzed, showing a higher prevalence of risk factors for malnutrition and food insecurity. Reflecting a higher prevalence of malnutrition in adults over 85 years of age, most of whom were women.
