description Este artículo analiza la optimización del departamento de caja en una empresa distribuidora de alimentos y productos de aseo, con sede en las ciudades de Cartagena y Barranquilla -Colombia, resaltando la importancia de modernizar los procesos financieros. Se identifica que la falta de innovación y el uso de métodos obsoletos afectan la eficiencia y pueden generar pérdidas económicas. La investigación, de carácter descriptivo, tuvo como objetivo identificar y analizar los procesos del departamento de caja, así como las oportunidades de mejora dentro de la empresa distribuidora. Los resultados revelan diversas deficiencias, entre ellas una planificación inadecuada del flujo de efectivo y registros contables deficientes, factores que han impactado negativamente el crecimiento de la empresa. Como solución, se recomienda la implementación de software especializado en facturación y monitoreo del desempeño de los empleados, además de capacitaciones en herramientas ofimáticas para optimizar la eficiencia operativa. Asimismo, se propone establecer procesos de seguimiento que permitan evaluar la productividad y minimizar errores humanos.

The research, of a descriptive nature, aimed to identify and analyze the cash department's processes, as well as opportunities for improvement within the distribution company.
