Objective: To determine the effect of age, period, and cohort on tuberculosis mortality in Colombia from 1985 to 2019. Materials and methods: A retrospective cohort study. All TB deaths occurring in Colombia from 1985 to 2019 were studied, taken from the DANE (National Institute of Statistics and Census), grouped under the standardized cause: "002." Crude and age-standardized rates were calculated (direct method). A web tool developed by the US National Cancer Institute was used for the age, period, and cohort analysis, analyzing local drifts and linear deviations, with its significance test. The effect of the period and cohort parameters was evaluated using the period rate ratio and the cohort rate ratio with 95% CI. The Wald test was used, considering p <0.05 as statistically significant. Results: From 1985 to 2019, there were 43,092 TB deaths in Colombia. The department with the highest percentage of TB deaths was Valle del Cauca (15.5%), followed by Antioquia (11%). Age-standardized rates x 100.00 increased from 6.49 in 1985-1989 to 1.92 in 2015-2019. There was a significant upward trend in age-specific incidence rates over time in all age groups (p < 0.05). Deviations from linearity differed significantly across age groups (p < 0.05) for all periods and cohorts, and the downward slope in rates decreased more steeply in older ages (p < 0.05). Conclusion: TB mortality increases progressively with age, but there has been a reduction in mortality over time, with a significant cohort effect, with more pronounced declines in mortality rates in older cohorts.PDFspahttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/2.5/co/Atribución-NoComercial-SinDerivadas 2.5 Colombiainfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccesshttp://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2Comportamiento de la mortalidad por tuberculosis según edad, periodo y cohorte, Colombia, 1985 a 2019ageperiodcohortmortalitytuberculosisComportamiento de la mortalidad por tuberculosis según edad, periodo y cohorte, Colombia, 1985 a 2019Tesis de Especializacióninfo:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersionhttp://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_7a1finfo:eu-repo/semantics/bachelorThesisSharma A, De Rosa M, Singla N, Singh G, Barnwal R, Pandey A.
