Estudio cuantitativo, observacional, transversal, y analítico, con participación de 51 adultos mayores del proyecto INTERCOG, muestreo a conveniencia, la polifarmacia se consideró cuando tomaban 5 o más medicamentos para cualquier patología . Análisis descriptivo, bivariado y multivariado. Se presentan Odds Ratio calculados en regresión logística. Los hallazgos confirmaron la relevancia de la polifarmacia como un problema de salud pública en adultos mayores con quejas de memoria. Factores como hipertensión arterial, infarto agudo de miocardio, cáncer y mayor índice de masa corporal demostraron su asociación con la polifarmacia. Se resaltó la necesidad de optimizar la prescripción médica y realizar evaluaciones regulares de los regímenes farmacológicos mediante herramientas como los criterios Stop-Start. El estudio enfatizó la importancia de un manejo interdisciplinario para reducir riesgos y mejorar la calidad de vida de esta población. Aunque limitado por el tamaño muestral, los resultados aportaron bases para futuras investigaciones más amplias y detalladas. Este estudio identificó que el 19.61% de los participantes presentó polifarmacia, destacando como factores asociados antecedentes de infarto agudo de miocardio, cáncer y un índice de masa corporal elevado.
