Description
Summary:Even though in Colombia exists a National Plan for Bilingualism (Spanish – English) in different stages, Teaching English to Young Learners has been a challenge because it evidences critical issues talking about the preparation of future teachers (Clavijo, 2016). In addition, there exists “a lack of innovative and creative practices that articulate content from the disciplines in the curriculum” (Clavijo, 2016, p.7). In order to conjoin content areas with the English language teaching, Content Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) approach appears to give teachers the tools and guidance to make a contextualized practice. This approach has to do with teaching both content and language at the same time (Korosidou & Griva, 2016). Having this in mind, this pedagogical proposal looks integration of visual arts with English language teaching in a CLIL class promoting cultural awareness for third graders.
