Description
Summary:The proposal of the Experimental Pedagogical School (eps) in the environmental field revisits several ideas of Gunter Pauli (2011), exposed in his book The Blue Economy. There are some similarities between the two proposals; they highlight the need to transform the traditional view of education (focused on contents so far), on the one hand, and to seek solutions to local problems, on the other. The objectives are: a) to transform the vicious circle that currently feeds the environmental crisis, b) to question the principles of the economy based on market transactions as a closed system, c) to go beyond the development of environmental actions linked to the production of biodegradable elements, and d) to build sustainable action frameworks based on our knowledge of natural systems, as well as on the dialogue between knowledges. In that sense, the commitment is to the formation of citizens who are responsible with the environment andare not mere consumers of it; for this effect, a profound transformation of the educational system is necessary, one which would value not only the need to think about the problems of context, but also the importance of educating citizens who question the processes of cultural and biological homogenization that prevail today. This article offers reflections and describes the experience of the eps, from the time it revisited the ideas of the blue economy to enrich its proposal and to consolidate nine environmental projects (through the teaching strategy of ata), which have resulted from the study of real problems present in the daily life of the school community.
