Los índices de VIPy cáncer en mujeres en Colombia, suponen una altaprobabilidadde coexistencia deambas condiciones en las mujeres del país. Sin embargo, este fenómeno ha sidopoco abordado, por lo tanto elobjetivo de este estudio es comprender las vivencias en torno a la VIP y el cáncer en mujeres quehanexperimentadolas dos condiciones simultáneamente. Para este fin, partiendo del paradigma hermenéutico interpretativo, se realizó un entrevista semiestructurada a 6 mujeres en un rango de edad entre los 45 y 60 años, con el propósito de que manifestaran sus vivencias en torno a los dos fenómenos, enfatizando en las estrategias de afrontamiento, el papel de la red de apoyo y los cambios en las interacciones de VIP a partir del diagnóstico. La información obtenida a partir de las entrevistas fue analizada temáticamente y fue organizada en un diagrama de redes. Dentro de las categorías encontradas se destacó la religión como estrategia de afrontamiento, el papel de los hijos como fuente de apoyo, el surgimiento de nuevas dinámicas de violencia psicológica y económica a partir del cáncer y el inconformismo de las mujeres con los profesionales de la salud.
