Summary:Presenting and classifying some fixed phraseological units found in García Márquez’s novels is the purpose of this paper. The proposed methodology includes detailed reading, analysis and collection of the phraseological corpus in some of the author´s novels, as well as the comparison of said corpus with monolingual and phraseological dictionaries of general Spanish, and dictionaries of Colombianisms, to determine semantic and pragmatic factors of these units.  As a result, a list of phraseologisms present in the work of the Colombian writer was prepared, allowing observe that García Márquez’s novels are a valuable source of phraseological expressions. It is concluded that literary work, taken as a linguistic corpus, offers possibilities to study the expressive resources of the language in use; hence the relevance of this analysis, since phraseology studies in the literature are a fruitful field of research that require further exploration in Colombian works.
