description	The present article aims to illustrate how, in mid-1865, the president of the Piaui province, Franklin Américo de MenesesDoria, with the help of newspapers, acted to build the image of the voluntary heroine, Jovita Alves Feitosa. This was with the intention of recruiting more men into the armed forces of the Brazilian Empire in the war against the Republic of Paraguay. By means of the documental analysis of a biographical text written in her honor in the newspapers of the time, and with the aid of a bibliography, it is sought to understand how she joined the army, what the activities of the newspapers of the time were, and how her trip to the Court of Rio de Janeirotranspired. From this, intense propaganda was identified, which was built around her character, and came to divide the society of the time either in favor of or against her recruitment. At the same time, and paradoxically, the same newspapers would end up taking advantage of the news of her demise, which occurred in 1867 due to a crime of passion, two years after her turbulentarrival in Rio de Janeiro.

Procuramos compreender por meio da análise documental, dos periódicos da época, de um texto biográfico escrito em sua homenagem, e com auxílio de uma bibliografia, sobre como ocorreu sua incorporação ao Exército, qual a atuação dos jornais na época, e como se deu a sua viagem até a Corte no Rio de Janeiro. Foi possível perceber como efetivamente a intensa propaganda construída em torno da voluntária conseguiu dividir a sociedade da época, se colocando a favor e contra o seu alistamento ao tempo em que paradoxalmente os mesmos jornais acabariam explorando a notícia de sua morte, ocorrida no ano de 1867 por questões passionais, dois anos após a sua apoteótica chegada ao Rio de Janeiro.Cet article se propose de montrer comment, vers 1865, le président de la province de Piauí, Frankiln Américo Meneses Dória, à l’aide des journaux, a agi pour construire l’image de l’héroïne volontaire Jovita Alves Feitosa, et ce afin de promouvoir le recrutement d’hommes pour l’armée de l’Empire du Brésil dans la guerre contre la République du Paraguay. On cherche à comprendre, suivant l’analyse d’un texte biographique écrit à propos d’elle dans les journaux de l’époque, comment s’est produit son incorporation à l’armée, quelles ont été les activités de ces journaux comment s’est fait son voyage jusqu’à la Cour de Río de Janeiro.
