description The text analyzes Paulo Freire's contributions on childhood. Considering that childhood was not a central axis of his concerns, this document presents a singular contribution of the teacher, precisely in a minor topic of his work. To this end, a study is made of Freire's own reading of his childhood in Letters to Christine, an autobiographical text in which he dialogues publicly with himself. Likewise, the image of childhood lying there is highlighted and this study is complemented with some references to other works - The Importance of the Act of Reading, That School Called Life, On education: Some dialogues, Learning to Question: A Pedagogy of Liberation, In the Shadow of this Mango Tree, and Pedagogy of Indignation — works in which the educator from Pernambuco presents a conception of childhood and early life that goes beyond the most traditional idea of childhood, as a chronological stage, in order to establish it as a force of life, even, or particularly, in the case of a revolution.

Conscientes de que la infancia no fue un eje central de sus preocupaciones, aquí se muestra una contribución singular del maestro, justamente en un tópico menor de su obra. Para eso se hace un estudio de la lectura que el propio Freire ofrece de su infancia, en Cartas a Cristina, texto autobiográfico en el que dialoga públicamente consigo mismo. De igual modo, se destaca la imagen de la infancia allí presente y se complementa este estudio con algunas referencias a otras obras — La importancia de leer y el proceso de liberación, Esa escuela llamada vida, Acerca de Educación -Diálogos, Por una pedagogía de la pregunta, A la sombra de este árbol y Pedagogía de la indignación, — obras en las que el educador pernambucano presenta una concepción de la infancia y la niñez que desborda la más tradicional idea de infancia, como etapa cronológica, para instaurarla como fuerza de la vida, incluso, o sobre todo, en el caso de una revolución.Le texte analyse les contributions de Paulo Freire à l'enfance. Compte tenu du fait que l'enfance n'était pas un axe central de ses préoccupations, ce document montre une contribution singulière de l'enseignant, précisément dans un sujet mineur de son travail. Pour ce faire, on étudie la lecture faite par Freire de sa propre enfance dans Lettres à Christine, un texte autobiographique dans lequel il dialogue publiquement avec lui-même.
