This study also contextualizes the work of Hoyos and presents a reflection on the category “sex-fiction”, created by the author to refer to his own works, which have been scarcely discussed in academic circles.El presente artículo propone mostrar cómo Hernán Hoyos en la novela de sexo-ficción Aventuras de un impotente cuestiona la “modernidad” de la clase burguesa de Cali durante la década de los setenta del siglo XX, modernidad que toma como modelo referentes extranjeros, en particular, norteamericanos. Asimismo, el texto contextualiza la obra de Hoyos y pr esenta una reflexión en torno a la categoría “sexo-ficción” creada por el autor para referirse a sus obras, tan poco abordadas en los círculos académicos.
