The current environmental situation of Facatativa municipality’s urban area, is the response to historical events that have been presented in the face of processes of territorialization, expressed in the phenomena of urbanization and industrialization. In order to understand the environmental problems in the Facatativa municipality’s urban area based on its territorial analysis, the territorial configuration in the municipality’s urban space between 1980 and 2010 has been analyzed from a geohistorical, geopolitical and environmental approach. It was observed that the municipality has been presenting complex environmental problems that have repercussions in the recognition of the value of the environment and natural resources, in the quality of life and in the environmental sustainability. In this sense, territorial environmental management becomes the strategy to provide the guidelines for planning the territory, promoting equality, equity and sustainable development. |

Con el fin de comprender los problemas ambientales en el área urbana de este municipio a partir de su análisis territorial, se determinó desde un enfoque geohistórico, geopolítico y ambiental la configuración territorial urbana entre 1980 y 2010. Se observó que en Facatatitvá se han venido presentando complejos problemas ambientales que repercuten en el reconocimiento del valor del medio ambiente y los recursos naturales, en la calidad de vida y en la sostenibilidad ambiental. En este sentido, la gestión ambiental territorial se convierte en la estrategia que brinda las pautas para la planificación del territorio, propiciando la igualdad, la equidad y su desarrollo sostenible.A atual situação ambiental da área urbana do município de Facatativa é a resposta aos eventos históricos que foram apresentados diante de processos de territorialização, expressos nos fenômenos de urbanização e industrialização. Para entender os problemas ambientais na área urbana do município de Facatativa com base em sua análise territorial, a configuração territorial no espaço urbano do município entre 1980-2010 foi analisada a partir de uma perspectiva geohistórica, geopolítica e ambiental. Observou-se que no município tem apresentado problemas ambientais complexos que têm repercussões no reconhecimento do valor do meio ambiente e dos recursos naturais, na qualidade de vida e na sustentabilidade ambiental.
