description This article is the result of doctoral research in Education, which sought to understand the Popular Extension in Environmental Education, experienced by a Work Community, in the city of Uberaba, Minas Gerais, Brazil. It aims to present the educational processes linked to what to do in popular environmental education. Data collection took place through participant observation and data were analyzed based on content analysis. It was possible to understand that all the people involved and committed to the transformation of that reality experienced in and by the work community, become environmental educators, through their most varied what to do. Thus, an environmental educator is a mediator of the understanding of the relations that the community (s) in which she is inserted with the environment, so that Popular Environmental Education is in tune with the spirit of a popular extension of character. educational and transformative, based on a participatory methodology that allows the development of a practice in which the people involved seek the construction and systematization of knowledge that lead them to consciously focus on reality.

Su objetivo es presentar los procesos educativos vinculados a quehacer en la educación ambiental popular. La recolección de datos se realizó a través de la observación participante y los datos se analizaron en función del análisis de contenido. Fue posible comprender que todas las personas involucradas y comprometidas con la transformación de esa realidad experimentada en y por la comunidad de trabajo, se convierten en educadores ambientales, a través de sus más variados quehacer. Por lo tanto, un educador ambiental es un mediador de la comprensión de las relaciones que las comunidades en las que está insertada con el medio ambiente, de modo que la Educación Ambiental Popular esté en sintonía con el espíritu de una extensión popular de carácter educativo y transformador, basado en una metodología participativa que permite el desarrollo de una práctica en la cual las personas involucradas buscan la construcción y sistematización del conocimiento que los lleve a enfocarse conscientemente en la realidad.Este artigo é fruto de pesquisa de doutorado em Educação, que buscou compreender a Extensão Popular em Educação Ambiental, experenciada por uma Comunidade de Trabalho, na cidade de Uberaba, Minas Gerais. Tem por objetivo apresentar os processos educativos vinculados ao quefazer em educação ambiental popular. A coleta de dados se deu por meio da observação participante e a os dados foram analisados a partir da análise de conteúdo. Foi possível entender que todas as pessoas envolvidas e comprometidas com a transformação daquela realidade vivenciada na e pela comunidade de trabalho, se tornam educadoras ambientais, mediante seus mais variados quefazeres.
