From the detailed raising of the section, 560 hand samples were collected and 50 thin sections were carried out from which 24 were stained with red alizarine and potassium ferricyanide for its diagenetic analysis. From this analysis, some typical processes of each one of the main diagenetic environments that reacted on the rocks of this unit such as micritization and fibrous calcite in isopachus (marine environment), precipitations were identified. It has been determined a successive exhibition of the unit, with influence of meteoric waters, where calcite meteoric cement filling was allowed along, with a progressive burial that further lead to processes such as the calcite ferrous cement fillings, carbonates silifications and pressure-dissolution structures among others. The obtained information has allowed to determine the posdeposition conditions and to the elaboration of a generalized model of diagenetic evolution.En la quebrada Caguancito, en Garzón (Huila) aflora la mejor exposición de la unidad conocida como "Paleozoico de La Jagua". A partir del levantamiento detallado de la sección, se colectaron 560 muestras de mano y se realizaron 50 secciones delgadas, de las cuales 24 fueron teñidas con alizarina roja y ferricianuro potásico, para su análisis diagenético. A partir de este análisis se identificaron procesos característicos de cada uno de los principales ambientes diagenéticos que actuaron sobre las rocas de esta unidad, tales como micritización y precipitación de calcita fibrosa en isópaco (ambiente marino). Se ha determinado una exposición sucesiva de la unidad, con influencia de aguas meteóricas donde se permitió la precipitación de cemento de calcita meteórica que, posteriormente, con un progresivo enterramiento, produjo procesos como la precipitación de cemento de calcita ferrosa, silicificación de carbonatos y estructuras de presión-disolución, entre otros.
