description	Tourism and geography have a direct relationship and the conditions of the territory can promote the development of particular tourist activities such as sports tourism. However, it is still not clear how sports tourism and the geographical aspects are configured to make visible the impacts and drivers of this type of tourism in a territory. In this sense, the objective of this study is to understand how tourism and geography are related to the development of sports activities. To fulfil the objective of this article, a bibliometric analysis was carried out using a mixed sequential quanti-quali approach. In the quantitative phase, based on a search equation, 734 records were analysed through the VOSviewer software, which made it possible to identify the knowledge map and trends of the relationship between sports tourism and geography. Likewise, the quantitative approach yielded the knowledge clusters that served as the basis for the qualitative phase, which privileged the descriptive discourse analysis strategy, where 101 documents were selected with the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses). The study produced important findings on the relationship between tourism and geography for the development of sports activities, where environmental, physical, economic and sociocultural conditions are the elements that most influence the relationship.The results allow a greater understanding of the phenomenon under study and could be taken as a starting point for the development of empirical studies in different contexts.

Sin embargo, aún no es claro cómo se configura el turismo deportivo y los aspectos geográficos para visibilizar impactos y direccionadores de este tipo de turismo en un territorio. En este sentido, el objetivo del presente estudio es comprender cómo se relacionan el turismo y la geografía para el desarrollo de actividades deportivas. Para el cumplimiento del objetivo de este artículo, se realizó un análisis bibliométrico utilizando un enfoque mixto secuencial cuanti-cuali. En la fase cuantitativa, a partir de una ecuación de búsqueda, se analizaron 734 registros a través del software VOSviewer, que permitió identificar el mapa de conocimiento y tendencias de la relación entre turismo deportivo y geografía. Así mismo, el enfoque cuantitativo arrojó los clústeres de conocimiento que sirvieron como base para la fase cualitativa, la cual privilegió la estrategia de análisis descriptivo de discurso, en donde se seleccionaron 101 documentos con la metodología PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses). El estudio arrojó importantes hallazgos sobre la relación del turismo y la geografía para el desarrollo de actividades deportivas, en donde las condiciones ambientales, físicas, económicas y socioculturales son los elementos que más influyen en la relación. Los resultados permiten una mayor comprensión sobre el fenómeno en estudio y podrían ser tomados como punto de partida para el desarrollo de estudios empíricos en diferentes contextos.Turismo e geografia estão diretamente relacionados. As condições do território favorecem o desenvolvimento de determinadas atividades turísticas como o turismo desportivo. No entanto, ainda não está claro como o turismo esportivo e os aspectos geográficos se configuram para tornar visíveis os impactos e impulsionadores desse tipo de turismo em um território. Nesse sentido, este estudo tem como objetivo compreender como o turismo e a geografia se relacionam com o desenvolvimento das atividades esportivas. Uma revisão sistemática da literatura foi realizada para atingir o objetivo usando uma abordagem mista sequencial quanti-quali. Na fase quantitativa, a partir de uma equação de busca, foram analisados 734 registros por meio do software Vosviewer, o que permitiu a identificação do mapa de conhecimento e tendências da relação entre turismo esportivo e geografia. Da mesma forma, a abordagem quantitativa produziu os clusters de conhecimento que serviram de base para a fase qualitativa, que privilegiou a estratégia de análise descritiva do discurso, onde foram selecionados 101 documentos com a metodologia PRISMA. O estudo traz conclusões essenciais sobre a relação entre turismo e geografia para o desenvolvimento de atividades esportivas onde as condições ambientais, físicas, econômicas e socioculturais são os elementos que mais influenciam a relação.
