This issue of the Journal Historia de la Educación Latinoamericana focuses on the debate on the historical perspective of Rural Education (Educação do Campo) in some territories of Latin America and the Caribbean. It presents a dossier with twelve articles largely dedicated to schools, teachers and students who have left relevant traces in the rural schools of Latin America (Abya-Yala). Rural education is, in essence, the social environment in which the deployment of expansive and inclusive learning acquires true meaning, since schools located in the countryside respond permanently to the requirements of their social and cultural environment. Nevertheless, and based on the available empirical evidence, we dare to say that the socio-historical constitution of the social distribution of knowledge is markedly unequal in rural school worlds. The school system, in general, has contributed to reproduce this inequality. |

Se presenta un dossier con doce artículos dedicados en gran parte a escuelas, profesorado y estudiantes que han dejado huellas relevantes en las escuelas rurales de América Latina (Abya-Yala). La educación rural, es por esencia, el ámbito social en que adquiere verdadero sentido el despliegue de aprendizajes expansivos e inclusivos, pues las escuelas situadas en los campos responden permanentemente a los requerimientos de su entorno social y cultural. No obstante, y a partir de la evidencia empírica disponible, nos atrevemos a decir que la constitución sociohistórica de la distribución social del conocimiento es marcadamente desigual en los mundos escolares rurales. El sistema escolar, en general, ha contribuido a reproducir esa desigualdad.Este número da revista Historia de la Educación Latinoamericana centra-se no debate sobre a perspetiva histórica da Educação do Campo em alguns territórios da América Latina e das Caraíbas. Apresenta um dossier com doze artigos dedicados em grande parte a escolas, professores e alunos que deixaram marcas relevantes nas escolas rurais da América Latina (Abya-Yala). A educação rural é, em essência, a esfera social na qual a implantação de uma aprendizagem expansiva e inclusiva adquire verdadeiro significado, uma vez que as escolas localizadas no campo respondem permanentemente às exigências de seu ambiente social e cultural. Não obstante, e com base na evidência empírica disponível, atrevemo-nos a afirmar que a constituição sócio-histórica da distribuição social do conhecimento é marcadamente desigual nos mundos escolares rurais.
