Objective: Identify the challenges of Higher Education Institutions (HEI) in the relevance of the educational offer and its correspondence with the liking and preferences of the new generations with respect to university degrees demanded by the labor market. Method: This discussion is relevant and pertinent due to the findings obtained with the application of a quantitative methodology in an in-depth intervention-action study whose indicators are based on the perceptions of 600 high school students. Originality / contribution: all those grouped in the category of new generations are considered as generation Z. Generation T is left out because of their age and educational stage. Information gathering: 100 private sector employers or entrepreneurs in Guadalajara, Jalisco participated in this study. Conclusions: it is possible to identify necessary university degrees for this sector, with respect to 44 programs currently offered by the HEI of the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area |

Método: Esta discusión es relevante y pertinente debido a los hallazgos de la aplicación de una metodología cuantitativa con un estudio de intervención-acción a profundidad que arrojan indicadores que se fundamentan en las percepciones de 600 estudiantes de bachillerato. Originalidad/aporte: considerados como generación Z, a quienes se sintetiza como nuevas generaciones, sin incluir a propósito, la generación T por su edad y nivel de escolaridad. Estrategias/recolección de información se tomó en cuenta a 100 empleadores y/o emprendedores del sector privado en Guadalajara, Jalisco. Conclusiones: se logran identificar las carreras universitarias necesarias para este sector, respecto a 44 carreras que actualmente se ofrecen en la IES del Área Metropolitana de Guadalajara (AMG).Objetivo: identificar os desafios das instituições de Educação Superior (IES) na pertinência da oferta educativa e sua concordância com os gostos e preferências das novas gerações com as carreiras universitárias que são necessárias para o mercado laboral. Método: Esta discussão é relevante e pertinente devido aos achados da aplicação de uma metodologia quantitativa com um estudo aprofundado de intervenção-ação que produziu indicadores baseados nas percepções de 600 estudantes do ensino médio. Originalidade/contribuição: considerados como geração Z, que se sintetizam como novas gerações, não incluindo propositalmente a geração T em função de sua idade e escolaridade. Coleta de dados: considerou-se 100 empregados e/ou empresários do setor privado em Guadalajara, Jalisco.
