The methodology in the research was developed from the qualitative approach, socio-critical paradigm under the research action, which allowed analysing the problem step by step; The stages that were developed were: diagnosis, planning and evaluation. The data was obtained through the design and application of didactic sequences, analysis, interpretation, description and reflection on the results obtained in the production of tales. From the subcategories: Understanding and construction of concepts, Ability to formulate questions and Use of scientific words, the development and strengthening of the competence of inquiry in natural sciences was verified, obtaining as a result the strengthening of communicative competences, base for the knowledge construction.Este texto da cuenta de los resultados del trabajo de investigación titulado: “El cuento como estrategia pedagógica para desarrollar la competencia de indagación en ciencias naturales por medio de secuencias didácticas” en los estudiantes de grado octavo de la Institución Educativa Agropecuaria El Escobal del municipio de Ramiriquí. La metodología en la investigación se desarrolló desde el enfoque cualitativo, paradigma sociocrítico bajo la investigación acción (IA), la cual permitió analizar paso a paso el problema; las etapas que se desarrollaron fueron: diagnóstico, planificación y evaluación. Los datos se obtuvieron mediante el diseño y aplicación de secuencias didácticas, análisis, interpretación, descripción y reflexión sobre los resultados obtenidos en la producción de cuentos.
