The conflict was detonated by the death of two university students in the hands of the army. This event triggered marches and university strikes in the whole country, putting the governability of the state of Michoacán into crisis.The journalistic corpus written by García Naranjo is analyzed in two directions. On the one hand, it emphasizes the liberal position with which this author examined the events and their social and political repercussions for the regime. This ideological positioning contravenes the wrong place in which historiography has put this character: as part of the reactionary and antirevolutionary right. On the other hand, in demostrating that this journalist exhibited a way of thinking proper to the ´liberal right´, we also establish that he judged the events of Morelia and the role of Universidad Michoacana from this perspective, demostrating a dissonant voice in a scenario dominated by ideological biases and political interests, which unanimously accused “the communist conspiracy” as responsable agent.

El conflicto tuvo como detonante la muerte de dos universitarios a manos del ejército. Dicho evento desató marchas y paros universitarios en todo el país, a la vez que puso en crisis la gobernabilidad del estado de Michoacán.El análisis del corpus periodístico escrito por García Naranjo desarrollado aquí, reflexiona en dos direcciones. Por un lado, pone de relieve el talante liberal con el que examinó los sucesos y sus repercusiones sociales y políticas para el régimen; siendo precisamente este posicionamiento ideológico, una evidencia del lugar equivocado en que la historiografía ha colocado al personaje: la derecha reaccionaria y antirrevolucionaria. Por otro lado, al mostrarse que este personaje exhibió un pensamiento propio de una ‘derecha liberal’, se establece también que desde este posicionamiento juzgó los hechos en Morelia y el papel de la Universidad Michoacana, siendo una voz disonante en un escenario dominado por los sesgos ideológicos y por los intereses políticos, los cuales acusaban unánimemente a la «conjura comunista» como principal responsable.Cet article analyse les textes écrits par le journaliste Nemesio García Naranjo autour des événements qui ont eu lieu entre le 28 juillet et le 26 août 1949 à Morelia (Michoacan-Mexique), lorsque s’est produit une dispute entre les étudiants de l’Université Michoacana de San Nicolás Hidalgo et le gouverneur de l’Etat, José María Mendoza Pardo, membre du parti alors au pouvoir dans le pays. Le conlit a été déclenché par la mort de deux étudiants universitaires par l’armée, ce qui a suscité des manifestations et des grèves universitaires partout dans le pays, cependant qu’était compromise la gouvernabilité de l’Etat du Michoacan. L’analyse du corpus constitué par les articles de García Naranjo emprunte deux voies. D’abord, elle souligne le caractère libéral du regard du journaliste sur les événements, ainsi que les conséquences sociales et politiques que celui-ci a entraînées pour le régime. Ce positionnement idéologique de García Naranjo contraste fortement avec la place que l’historiographie lui réserve comme homme de la droite réactionnaire et antirévolutionnaire.
