description Objective: to analyze Florencio Aburto's contributions to elementary education in the state of Veracruz (Mexico) in the first half of the 19th century. Originality/contribution: to address the unknown case of a teacher, who educated his students and renewed teaching methods. His story has gone unnoticed like most stories of education, including teacher biographies. Method: we use concepts of the biographical turn, such as trajectories and cultural maps referring to the chronological contexts and the cultural and geographical spaces of the person being studied. Strategies/Data collection: his contributions to the educational field are recovered from various documentary sources. Some aspects of his personal life and his facets as a printer, bookseller and businessman are also explored. Conclusions: his status as a printer, intellectual and businessman led him to bound with the local power and become a renown teacher of the leading edge. He promoted innovative teaching methods for his time, and following the rhetoric of the authorities, he was also concerned that education should reach all sectors of society, regardless of their social status.

Originalidad/aporte: abordar el caso de un maestro desconocido, que formó a sus alumnos y renovó los métodos de enseñanza, lo cual ha pasado inadvertido en la mayoría de las historias de la educación, incluidas las historias de vida y las biografías de maestras y maestros. Método: recupera algunos conceptos del giro biográfico, como las trayectorias y mapas culturales referentes a los contextos cronológicos y los espacios culturales y geográficos por los cuales transitó el personaje. Estrategias/recolección de información: se recuperan sus aportaciones al ámbito educativo de diversas fuentes documentales, lo cual requiere revisar también, de manera accesoria, algunos aspectos de su vida personal y sus facetas como impresor, librero y empresario. Conclusiones: su carácter de impresor, intelectual y empresario, le permitió establecer vínculos con el poder local y convertirse en un maestro reconocido por innovar la educación, mediante el impulso de métodos de enseñanza novedosos para su época, y una organización acorde con la retórica de las autoridades de extender la educación a todos los sectores, independientemente de su condición social.Objetivo: analisar os contribuições de Florencio Aburto para a educação primária de Veracruz na primeira metade do século XIX. Originalidade/contribuição: abordando o caso de um professor desconhecido, que formou seus alunos e renovou métodos de ensino, que passou despercebido na maioria das histórias de educação, incluindo histórias de vida e biografias de professores. Método: recupera alguns conceitos da viragem biográfica, tais como trajetórias e mapas culturais referentes aos contextos cronológicos e aos espaços culturais e geográficos através dos quais a personagem viajou. Estratégias/ coleta de datos: recuperação de várias fontes documentais sobre os seus contributos para a campo educacional, para as quais também precisa de rever, de forma acessória, alguns aspetos da sua vida pessoal e as suas facetas como impressora, livreiro e empreendedor.
