description The present study analyzes a long-standing Argentine student journal called Verbum that belonged to the Philosophy and Letters Student Center of the University of Buenos Aires (CEFYL). Through its content, we propose to give an account of the image of that institution and its reformist movement between 1912 and 1942. The faculty of humanities is presented as an Olympic temple of knowledge with different limitations: little operational budget, invalidity of its titles, disqualified teachers, lack of occupational projection in the national culture. However, the existence of great intramural figures such as José Ingenieros or Ricardo Rojas stands out. On the other hand, it was there where the first actions of reformist leaders took place, for instance, those of Gregorio Bermann, who became a specialist in student movements and was the author of the book La juventud de América de la UNAM. From Verbumand the environment of the faculty emerged a range of similar and contradictory positions that reduced the reformist platform to purely didactic and guild demands or that extended it to the civil, community and international terrain. That is why we address here the work of avant la lettrereformers like Bermann, intellectuals within the reformist movement, such as Coriolano Alberini, or anti-reformists as Leopoldo Lugones. Within the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters was recurrent the citation of diverse political-academic positions, that appealed to the reformist nominal emblem, beyond its commitments with all the flags raised by the Reformation. From these positions arises the Partido Reforma Universitaria. In short, the reformist identity has been a broad ideological spectrum, applicable to all those who agree with progressive nominations from different degrees of radicalization and distanced both from ultramontane traditionalism and liberal conservatism. The methodology of this study attempted to adapt the guidelines of Noemí Girbal for the entry "Journals" in the Dictionary Pensamiento Alternativo, Adenda.

Con ello se intenta dar cuenta  de la imagen de esa casa de estudios y de su movimiento reformista entre 1912 y 1942. Dicha facultad de humanidades se nos presenta como un templo olímpico del saber pero que padece de diferentes limitaciones: magro presupuesto operativo, invalidez de sus títulos, docentes descalificados, falta de salida ocupacional y de proyecciones en la cultura nacional. Sin embargo, no dejaba de reconocerse la existencia de grandes figuras de intramuros como las de José Ingenieros o Ricardo Rojas. Por otra parte también hicieron allí sus primeras armas relevantes líderes reformistas como Gregorio Bermann, ese futuro estudioso de los movimientos estudiantiles y autor del libro La juventud de América de la UNAM. Emanaron de Verbum y sobre el horizonte facultativo interno una gama de posturas acordes o disímiles que reducen la plataforma reformista a demandas puramente didácticas y/o gremiales o la extienden al terreno civil, comunitario e internacional. De ahí la posibilidad de hablar de reformistas avant la lettre como el mismo Bermann, parareformistas, como Coriolano Alberini o antirreformistas como Leopoldo Lugones. Son citadas diversas expresiones, de corte político-académico dentro de Filosofía y Letras que apelaron al emblema nominal reformista, más allá de sus compromisos con todas las banderas enarboladas por la Reforma. Entre tales expresiones se encuentra el Partido Reforma Universitaria. En definitiva, la identidad reformista ha supuesto un amplio espectro ideológico, aplicable  a todos aquellos que comulgan con postulaciones progresistas desde distintos grados de radicalización y distanciadas tanto del tradicionalismo ultramontano como del conservadorismo liberal. Com isso se pretende dar conta da imagem desse centro de estudos e de seu movimento reformista entre 1912 e 1942. A referida faculdade de humanidades nos é apresentada como um templo olímpico do saber, mas que padece de diferentes limitações: baixo orçamento operacional, invalidez de seus títulos, docentes desqualificados, falta de produção ocupacional e de projeções na cultura nacional. Por outro lado, também produziram ali suas primeiras armas relevantes, relevantes líderes reformistas como Gregorio Bermann, futuro estudioso dos movimentos estudantis e autor do livro La juventud de América de la UNAM.  Emanaram de Verbum, e no horizonte facultativo interno, uma gama de posturas, concordantes ou divergentes, que reduziram a plataforma reformista a demandas puramente didáticas e/ou agremiais, ou a estenderam ao terreno civil, comunitário e internacional. Daí a possibilidade de falar de reformistas avant la lettrecomo o próprio Bermann, para-reformistas como Coriolano Alberini, ou antirreformistas como Leopoldo Lugones. São citadas diversas expressões, de recorte político-acadêmico, dentro de Filosofia e Letras, que apelaram ao emblema nominal reformista, mas além de seus compromissos com todas as bandeiras hasteadas pela Reforma. Entre tais expressões, se encontra o Partido da Reforma Universitária. Em definitivo, a identidade reformista assumiu um amplo espectro ideológico, aplicável a todos aqueles que comungam com postulações progressistas, a partir de diferentes graus de radicalização e distantes tanto do tradicionalismo ultramontano como do conservadorismo liberal.
