This study investigated the potential relationship between Severe Mental Disorder and Joint Hypermobility Syndrome (JHS). Methods: An observational, analytical, cross-sectional, and retrospective study was conducted with 60 patients hospitalized for severe mental disorder at the San Juan de Dios Clinic in Manizales. These patients were matched by gender, age, and socioeconomic status with 60 healthy controls. The assessment of severe mental disorder was conducted using MINI, while JHS was assessed using the Endophenotype Neuroconnective questionnaire. Results: The results revealed that there is no statistically significant relationship between participants diagnosed with Severe Mental Disorder and Joint Hypermobility Syndrome. Conclusions: No significant association was found between severe mental illness and Joint Hypermobility Syndrome. These findings suggest that, at least in the studied sample, there is no significant relationship between both clinical phenomena. There is a statistically significant relationship between some characteristics of the dimensions of the Endophenotype Neuroconnective questionnaire and severe mental disorders.
