Ewes were synchronized using prostaglandin-PGF2α (PG) and randomly divided in two groups (n = 7/group): control group and progesterone-treated group (CIDR) after ovulation (day zero). From the day before PG injection until day  10, ultrasonic monitoring was carried out. Blood samples were collected daily to determine plasma concentrations P4 and estradiol (E2 ). For the luteinizing hormone (LH) pulses profile, blood samples were collected at 30-min intervals during 8 hours on days one and six. Hormones concentrations were determined by radioimmunoassay. Differences in LH pulse frequency on day one (P<0.01) were observed with values of 2.55±0.09 pulses/8 h in control group and 1.49±0.11 pulses/8 h in  treatedgroup. On day six, the control group showed significantly higher values (P<0.05) for LH pulse frequency (2.20±0.09 pulses/8h) than the treated-group (1.22±0.11 pulses/8 h). Mean plasma concentrations of P4 (P<0.001) were different between groups (P<0,001) during P4 administration on days one and six of the estrous cycle. Furthermore, there was significant difference (P<0.0001) in E2 plasma concentrations among groups during P4 administration. These data suggest that hexogen progesterone reduces LH pulse.Universidad de Caldas2022-03-17T01:11:50Z2025-10-08T21:58:13Z2022-03-17T01:11:50Z2025-10-08T21:58:13Z2022-03-17Artículo de revistahttp://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_2df8fbb1Textinfo:eu-repo/semantics/articleJournal articlehttp://purl.org/redcol/resource_type/ARTinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionhttp://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85application/pdfhttps://repositorio.ucaldas.edu.co/handle/ucaldas/255542011-5415https://revistasojs.ucaldas.edu.co/index.php/vetzootec/article/view/4455https://revistasojs.ucaldas.edu.co/index.php/vetzootec/article/view/4455spa542445Revista Veterinaria y Zootecnia (On Line)Ali, A.; Hayder, M.; Saifelnaser, E.O.H.
