Brief descriptions of their material culture and something of their mythology have been synthesized by Scout (1949), with bibliographical references, and the general outlines of their society have been discussed recently by the present writer (Faron 1961). In the present article, attention given to a more detailed analysis of Chocó social institutions.spa: Los chocó son un pueblo hortícola organizado bilateralmente que ocupa tierras ribereñas en los bosques tropicales de Darién, Panamá. Es posible que haya unos 5.000 indígenas chocó en esta región. Breves descripciones de su cultura material y algo de su mitología han sido sintetizadas por Scout (1949), con referencias bibliográficas, y las líneas generales de su sociedad han sido discutidas recientemente por el presente escritor (Faron 1961).
